What is an Evangelistic Toy Ministry?
An Evangelistic Toy Ministry is a planned event in which the gospel is intentionally shared and toys are distributed to families in the local community based on needs identified by church members, schools and agencies. The intent of an Evangelistic Toy Ministry is to present the gospel of Jesus Christ while simultaneously serving the community. An Evangelistic Toy Ministry should not be confused with a benevolence ministry.
An Evangelistic Toy Ministry would be classified as event oriented or attractional evangelism. Both terms describe an event in which an activity is held in order to present the gospel. Evangelistic events attract people from different cultural backgrounds and beliefs and expose them to the gospel in a relaxed environment. This type of event also enables relationships to be formed within the local community and reaches those who would most likely not attend a church service. Once the gospel is presented through personal gospel encounters or a corporate presentation, a variety of follow-up activities can occur in order to continue to reach out to those who are not believers in Jesus Christ.
