Breakout Sessions

Pastor to Pastor

Pastors, please join Sandy Marks for a time of refreshing and encouragement.

From One Ministry Wife to Another

This will be a time for ministry wives to enjoy time with one another for encouragement, strength and to find a few resources to help along the way. Linda McLaurin, a pastor’s wife for 43 years, has a passion for helping ministry wives discover resources to provide balance with the demands of ministry.

Women to women

Whether starting a new women’s ministry or just want guidance to resources, you
will get some helpful tips and suggestion for the women's ministry in your church. Carrie Gilliam leads the women’s ministry at Rock Spring Baptist Church and has been serving in ministry for 15 years in various roles. She holds a Master’s degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and owns a local photograph business in Louisburg.

Coaching Others to Peace

Is conflict hindering your effectiveness? Learn how you can help others resolve conflict with this introduction to a Peacemakers approach with Michael and Gena McCray. Michael, a pastor, and Gena, an attorney and mediator, have been married and serving together in various roles for 16 years. They received training and certification from the North Carolina Baptist State Convention to coach others to peace and mediation.

Thoughts on Strategic Leadership

Does your church change ministry directions too often or has your church ministry become stagnant?  This session will talk about how the church body, through prayer,
study and surrendering to His will can determine the long term strategic direction of your church.  You do this by establishing a clear Purpose or Mission that encompasses a Vision of where and what your church is being called to do by God and how to incrementally accomplish your church mission by creating S.M.A.R.T. goals or objectives (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely). John Byrd retired from the NC National Guard retiring at the rank of Brigadier General after 36 years of service. He spent 33 years in state government culminating as the NC State Crime Laboratory Director and retired Special Agent with the NC State Bureau of Investigation.  John specializes in teaching Christian based leadership principles, team building and management practices with an extensive background in Lean Six Sigma.

Nine Reasons People Aren’t Singing in Worship and What to Do About It

Congregations are increasingly turning into masses of spectators rather than active participants. What can we do to reverse this trend in our churches and help our congregations really participate and sing? Join Kenny Lamm, worship consultant for the Baptist State Convention of NC, as he unpacks the reasons people are not singing in worship and how to remedy the problem. For additional worship resources, check out the resource page, lamm.fyi/tarriver, on Kenny's blog, RenewingWorshipNC.org.

Going Deeper with Your Youth
