Find out how we can help you help others.

Tar River Baptist Association seeks to assist member churches become engaged in ministry to the communities where God has placed them,  We recommend that every church prayerfully consider forming a "partnership" with someone in their community.  We suggest the following as possibilities:
  • Local Elementary School:  Speak with you local school's guidance counselors and principals to determine if there are needs among the children that you could minister to as a church family.
    • Volunteer in the schools (readers, aids, test proctors, tutor, mentor, etc.)
      • After school GOOD NEWS BIBLE CLUB - consider following this curriculum after school and build relationship with families
      • Emergency needs - the early grades often need cloths to deal with accidents - keep the school stocked
      • Teacher/Staff Appreciation - maybe once a quarter place fruit, sweet buns, fresh fruit, etc. in places where the staff can enjoy
      • Etc. Etc. Etc.
  • Local Middle and High Schools:  In addition to then guidance counselors and principals, you may wish to speak with the coaches, music and band directors, special needs teachers, etc.  They can reveal the unique needs of their students and you may be able to assist
    • Volunteer in the schools (you will have opportunity to expand to other areas with older students - expanded role as tutors and mentors, coaching assistants and chaperone needs, etc. etc.)
