church renewal
what about a dying church brings glory to god?

TRBA is here to assist your church in any stage of revitalization

Each year hundreds of Southern Baptist churches hold their final services and close their doors. The vast majority of these churches are in communities that desperately need a gospel witness. Yet in the midst of this tragedy, there is hope. Hope is found in the power of the gospel, and in strategic partnerships to revitalize and replant these dying churches for God's glory. We can help with that.

With the coming of COVID-19 during 2020, we have determined to forego our revization strategy and ramp up a strategy of assisting member churches with our Post-COVID Revitalization Strategy.  TRBA is convinced that EVERY church is in need of elements within this strategy.  We are further convinced that any church who fails to at least assess the church and community needs and determine to address those needs, will be doing their church and community (as well as the cause of Christ) a great disservice.  We are functioning in a different world Post-COVID and if we fail to address that truth, we will have lost all relevance to the lost in this generation.

The various elements of our strategy remains similar to our previous plan.  Our delivery system will be through what we are calling our CHURCH REVITALIZATION UNIVERSITY - TRBA Campus.  Using our partnerships with the Malphurs Group, Blackaby Ministries, BSNC, the SBCAL, and others, we will address every level of church revitalization - from lay renewal to legacy churches.  Look to the information below.

Church & community

Believers in struggling churches must face reality and see things as they are, not as how they used to be. They really should be praying about and looking to the way things could be as His church in and to the community where God has placed them.  BOTH the community and the church should be assessed - including church leadership.  Courageous steps are required to start the journey toward vitality, health and a strong gospel presence in the community once again. An honest assessment is needed for the hard task of church revitalization.

Church revitalization

What exactly is Church Revitalization? Revitalization is the supernatural work of God that restores health and vitality in a plateaued or declining church, evidenced by submission to God's Word, right relationships among members, and a renewed commitment to Great Commission Ministry on the part of the existing leaders.

church replanting

What is Church Replanting, and how is it different from Church Revitalization? Replanting is the process in which members of a church facing imminent closure discern God's leadership to dissolve their current ministry and work with other churches or partners to begin a new church for a new season in their community.

This section provides an OVERVIEW of what be believe is needed and what we can offer as an association to the varying needs, appropriate levels, and the in each area of church revitalization.  We will begin as simple as a personal discipleship strategy for an individual church member, to the most difficult to achieve - replanting, and the most heart-wrenching, emotionally draining - becoming a legacy church.  There is a commitment level for church leadership to be admitted into the process towards church revitalization.

prayer - personal & corporate

Without fervent, ongoing, personal, and corporate prayer there will be no revitalization of the church.  That is the stance as an association.  The pastor and church leadership must be convicted of the necessity of prayer.  They must commit to lead the church in corporate prayer and be personally engaged themselves.  Without the foundation of prayer, the church has no chance to experience revitalization/renewal as God desires for it.  Click here for resources to help lead the church towards prayerful dependence on God.

discipleship

In recent years, we have heard they the primary reason so many churches are in decline/dying is a lack of discipleship.  As we go through the prayer and assessment phase towards church renewal/revitalization, TRBA will emphasize various discipleship needs within our churches.  There is no excuse for a Baptist church to be in decline with all the resources readily available to you as a result of your Cooperative Program and support of the association,

As a result of COVID, there is a need for every person in any position of leadership should be willing to "re-tool" for the "new normal."  Through our associational training and Ministry Grid, we will help each church develop its Discipleship Pathway.

We will be adding additional pages with resources for each of the above. Check back regularly to see more.
