TRBA Connection

Welcome to the TRBA Connection
A shared space for collaboration, encouragement, and kingdom vision.

At the Tar River Baptist Association, we believe that churches are stronger when they’re connected—not just by geography, but by shared purpose, prayer, and the desire to reach our communities with the love of Christ.

The TRBA Connection is more than just a blog. It’s a space to share updates, highlight what God is doing in our churches, and offer encouragement to pastors and ministry leaders who are walking similar roads. Here, we’ll explore what cooperation looks like in real life—through conversations, events, stories, and shared wisdom.

You’ll find reflections from our gatherings, ideas for strengthening ministry relationships, and gentle challenges to build bridges between churches for the sake of the gospel.

Whether your church has been part of the association for generations or you’re new to the area, this is your invitation to be part of something bigger than your own building or calendar. We’re in this together. And together, we can do more than we ever could alone.

Honoring Our Pastors This October

Scripture reminds us of the importance of honoring those who serve faithfully in spiritual leadership.

“Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work.”
– 1 Thessalonians 5:12–13

“Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.”
– Hebrews 13:17

Pastor Appreciation Month is already in full swing, but it’s not too late to express gratitude for your pastors’ faithful service. This is a wonderful opportunity to encourage those who continually encourage others.

Here are some traditional ways you can honor your pastors:
  • Write a note letting them know how they and their families have impacted your life.
  • Take up a love offering to bless them and their families.
  • Give a gift card for a date night or family activity.
  • Plan a Pastor Appreciation Sunday with a special time of recognition during worship.

But here are some other creative ideas you might try:

Gratitude Video Montage
– Gather short video clips from members (and even former members) sharing one way your pastors’ ministry has touched their lives. Compile them into a short video to show before or after a service—or present it privately as a surprise.

Memory Jar – Set out a decorative jar and slips of paper for church members to write encouraging notes, favorite sermon quotes, or special memories. Present it as a keepsake your pastors can revisit on challenging days.

Day of Rest Basket – Assemble a basket with things that encourage rest and renewal: coffee or tea, a devotional book, snacks, a cozy blanket, and a restaurant or retreat gift card. Add handwritten cards from the congregation.

Family Focus – Don’t forget the pastors’ families. Write notes directly to their spouses and children, thanking them for their support and sacrifices that often go unseen.

“Acts of Service” Challenge – Encourage members to serve the pastors’ families in practical ways: yard-work, home repairs, meals, or errands. It’s a tangible way to return the love and care they constantly give.

Encouragement Wall – Create a display or bulletin board where members can post notes of gratitude, Scripture verses, or photos that represent how the pastors have impacted their lives.

Quiet Getaway – Work together as a congregation to gift your pastors a weekend away at a quiet cabin, retreat center, or Airbnb to rest and recharge.

Voice of the Church – Gather meaningful quotes from past sermons and create a framed print or digital image featuring “The Voice of Our Pastors.” It’s a beautiful reminder that their words have lasting value.

A Final Encouragement
Honoring your pastors doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive. What matters most is the heart behind it. A sincere word of thanks, a thoughtful gesture, or a simple prayer can refresh the spirit of those who give so much of themselves in service to others.

Let’s make this October a time to bless and encourage our pastors!
