TRBA Connection

Welcome to the TRBA Connection
A shared space for collaboration, encouragement, and kingdom vision.

At the Tar River Baptist Association, we believe that churches are stronger when they’re connected—not just by geography, but by shared purpose, prayer, and the desire to reach our communities with the love of Christ.

The TRBA Connection is more than just a blog. It’s a space to share updates, highlight what God is doing in our churches, and offer encouragement to pastors and ministry leaders who are walking similar roads. Here, we’ll explore what cooperation looks like in real life—through conversations, events, stories, and shared wisdom.

You’ll find reflections from our gatherings, ideas for strengthening ministry relationships, and gentle challenges to build bridges between churches for the sake of the gospel.

Whether your church has been part of the association for generations or you’re new to the area, this is your invitation to be part of something bigger than your own building or calendar. We’re in this together. And together, we can do more than we ever could alone.

Who Receives the Glory? Learning to Check our Egos on Our Knees...

We are living in a ministry age where pastors are falling and failing in devastating sin, and the witness of the church for Christ is being damaged. Could it be that we are seeking to rob God of His glory by desiring our own? If that's the case, then falling into sinful practices is right around the corner. It's easy to judge others but getting the plank out of my own eyes is crucial. I Chronicles 16:29A says, "Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name (NASB)..." When I read that and considered my life as a pastor, I was stricken with conviction. I must not forget...we must not forget that all the glory belongs to God for:

Every sermon preached
Every bible study taught
Every song offered and led in worship
Every act of ministry
Every  church plan for the future
Every work of kindness shown
Every gospel witness
Every prayer for the sick and broken
Every interaction with our brothers and sisters

To seek praise for myself is an attempt to rob God of His glory. God will not share His glory with another.  His name alone deserves all the glory.  His holiness requires it. Bathed in the Word and prayer, we would do well to check our egos on our knees before Calvary. Christ dying holds us accountable.  Egos fall when we "survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of Glory died."
